Art in Paris: the Museum d’Orsay

What about an art weekend in Paris?First of all decide to visit Paris economically, staying at a bed and breakfast Paris and go out to discover of the beauties of the Museum d’Orsay.

It’s on one bank of the river Seine and it is housed in a former train station: the Gare d’Orsay.

If you are interested in art, you can’t absolutely miss this museum!

Mainly French art dates back from the second half of the 19th century to the first half of the 20th century.

Paintings, art objects, sculptures, photography, and design: the collection of the Museum d’Orsay includes neoclassicism, romanticism, impressionism, expressionism and art nouveau.

It is one of the world’s most visited museums and it’s so famous and well known especially because of its impressionist and post-impressionist collection: the largest in the world! Many visitors decide to see only the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works of the museum: you can enjoy wonderful paintings by Monet, Degas, Renoir, Cezanne, Van Gogh, Manet and many others.

But remember that the museum offers much more to see. So, take your time, enjoy your tour and don’t forget to have a look at another interesting section of the museum: the one dedicated to the art nouveau!

Avenue des Champs-Elysées: a prestigious avenue in Paris!

If you think of Paris, you immediately imagine the beauty of the Champs-Elysées.


Book your accommodation in Paris not too far from this amazing avenue and start your tour from its top: the Arc de Triomphe.

The arch was built by Napoleon to celebrate his victories: twelve streets meet at this roundabout.

This famous avenue was originally fields and market gardens.

Since the 17th century it has undergone lots of transitions and has become more and more fashionable.

It’s the widest street in Paris and stretches for almost 2 kilometers away from Place d’Etoile to Place de la Concorde.

The avenue des Champs-Elysées means greenery, palaces, fountains, footpaths and Parisian landmarks, such as the Arc de Triomphe.

This avenue also reflects another important aspect of Paris: entertainment.

Here you have plenty of choice to relax and have fun: nice cafés and restaurants, movie theatres and even the world’s most famous cabaret!

And remember that two major celebrations are held on the Champs-Elysées: on New Year’s Eve and on July14th ,a national holiday to celebrate the beginning of the Republic government in France!
