The Maison Balzac in Paris is a museum
dedicated to the French writer Honorè Balzac. It is located near the Bois de
Boulogne Park, in the Passy area.
The writer stayed in
the Maison de Balzac from 1840 to 1947 and here he wrote some of his best
novels such as La Rabouilleuse, Une Ténébreuse Affaire
and La Cousine Bette. Most important he created his real masterpiece called the Comedie humaine, a
collection of 137 novels and poems. The museum has got a garden and is very humble
; it was bought from the city of Paris and converted into a museum. It's really
important because it’s the only existing house of Balzac.
The museum has 5 rooms and the desk and
chairs where he used to work are displayed together with the hot water boiler
and a coffee pot.
On the first floor of the house there has
been since 1971, a library where Balzac's books, letters and manuscripts are
collected.
The entrance in the museum is free and is
open from Tuesdays till Sundays from 10.00 A.M. to 6.00 P.M. Don’t hesitate to
book a B&B Paris and visit this fascinating museum where
you’ll discover the author’s secrets.
