With a total surface of 3,500 meters, the Aquarium has got more than 43 pools that reproduces different habitats and 10,000 fishes and invertebrates.
Besides a great number of water species there are also family activities: two cinemas where you can see cartoons and educational documentary films, recreational activities for children, shows and debates. Children in particular love the shark tunnel (home to 24 toothy sharks), and the paddling pool where you can stroke friendly sturgeon which pop their long  noses out of the water.  The section on the River Seine is also interesting, showing the sorts of fish which still survive in Paris's river despite the pollution.
